While in Louisiana we were sadly rained out of a lot of the places we wanted to visit, including the abandoned opera house in New Orleans. However we did get to visit one very cool place in this beautiful state and that was the Charles Boldt Paper mill. The paper mill was constructed in 1920 on the banks of Bayou Teche where it experienced a brief boom in production but as the world wars waged on the paper mill fell further in to disrepair. Now all that stands is the concrete shell of the main plant and a large looming brick steam stack that looms over the town. This was a really beautiful place to visit however we were unable to make it up to the main property as it was under surveillance by local police. This location had sadly been vandalized a fair amount, graffiti is now on most every wall that you can see.

On another sad note, we went during the rainy season and were rained out of a lot of places. One of the places we did try to go to was way to dangerous to enter with the amount of thick mud and water standing, we will be coming back soon, next time in the summer!
